Meng Ding Gan Lu is a green tea from the Mengshan mountains in Sichuan Province and is regarded as one of China’s Top Ten Famous Teas. Mengshan is one of the oldest regions in China with a recorded history of tea cultivation. According to historical records, the monk Wu Lizhen (???) planted tea there around 200 BCE. During the Song dynasty, he was officially honored with the title “Ancestor of Tea”, and the garden he founded was preserved and named the Royal Tea Garden. The traditional processing of this tea is highly demanding, involving three rounds of pan-firing and three rounds of rolling, with the firing performed exclusively over charcoal. Thanks to the delicate leaves grown on Mengshan and the meticulous processing, this tea offers a soft, clean sweetness with subtle fruity undertones.
